Secondary Research - Audience for romance audience

Like most romance movies, the target audience is focused on women. Romantic films have a large target audience as different films attract different ages. The age range as a whole can be from 11 to 40 years old. The teenage romance genre which my film opening will be falling under, is targeted at younger women from the ages of around 13-25. This is because the main actors/actresses in my film are of similar ages to the audience.

The audience of romance consists mainly of women. The action goes on in such a manner that the audience is able to share the feelings of the character, empathising with him or her at all stages of the story.

The type of audience that The Fault In Our Stars attracts:

“The Fault in Our Stars” will attract viewers not only from its major target audience of young people, but also adult audiences who will be more concerned with the cancer theme.

It is mainly the two leading actors who carry this film on their shoulders, and luckily so, for at the end of the day, what we remember from this film is not the effect of the death of a loved one or how cancer ruins lives, but how falling in love is one of the most wonderful and meaningful experiences in life, no matter how long it lasts. 

The type of audience that The Notebook attracts:

Bland and sentimental, The Notebook is old-fashioned filmmaking aimed at an old-fashioned audience. However this movie is still a heart warming romance that may attract a younger audience. Because of it's adult actors and adult storyline, this movie will attract teenagers from 17 onwards rather than 10 or 11 year olds like The Fault In Our Stars would as older people will be able to understand the story with a lot more appreciation than a child.
